Atascadero Mutual Water Company (AMWC) is seeking an Administrative Assistant to provide administrative support to AMWC’s managers and customer service staff. The ideal candidate will be familiar with human resources practices and laws, have strong verbal and written communication skills, and have customer service experience working at a utility, bank, or similar setting assisting customers with their accounts. College-level coursework with an emphasis on business administration, accounting, and human resources is desired. A minimum of three years of progressively responsible administrative support experience is required, including experience in the areas of human resources, payroll, and customer service.
· Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Proficiency in the use of general office equipment, and Microsoft Office, Quickbooks payroll, and customer information system software; experience in payroll and human resources practices and laws; effective verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational skills; the ability to maintain confidentiality of customer and human resources information.
· Ability to:
Work as a team member; work independently and efficiently on assigned projects while using good judgment; prepare and proofread memos, letters, and other documents using proper grammar and punctuation; conduct self in a manner that is respectful to others to maintain a work environment that is not intimidating, hostile, or offensive; interact with customers, co-workers, management, vendors, the Board of Directors, and others related to performing duties in a professional, tactful, and courteous manner.
· Physical Abilities:
Remain in a stationary position, such as sitting at a desk, as needed/required; move around the office as needed; operate a computer, calculator, copy machine, printer, and other office equipment; verbally communicate to effectively provide information to customers, staff, and others encountered during the course of carrying out duties; and lift items weighing up to 10 lbs.
· Screening Requirements:
The selected candidate will be required to pass a physical exam and drug screening test and have good references and a clean background check. A valid California Driver’s License and clean DMV record, auto insurance coverage, and a vehicle that can be used for work-related transportation is desired.
