Creek Clean-Up

Our local creeks and the Salinas River are important because they flow throughout our community and eventually to Monterey Bay. Healthy creeks support abundant wildlife and a beautiful environment. Clean creeks also benefit agriculture and tourism - SLO County’s biggest source of income.

CARING FOR OUR CREEKS

Sedimentation caused by soil eroding from bare land harms our local creeks and streams; a little effort now can pay big dividends in keeping soil on your property and our streams healthy.

Instead of washing down paved areas, use a broom to sweep up dirt and debris. Protect stockpiled soils and bare land by seeding and covering with jute netting or straw. Clean out gutters and storm drains so soil and leaves do not get washed into drainage ditches and creeks.

For more info on erosion control, call the City of Atascadero at 461-5000.
